Hey friends — hope we’re all doing okay and looking after ourselves at the moment? I’m keeping myself as upbeat as possible at the moment (thank you, medication and therapy!) and so I’d like to get back to sharing great small brands. So welcome back to Support Small Businesses — a little feature on small brands I think are awesome. This time around — accessories!
Hiya guys! Hope you’re all doing well. I’ve been a bit MIA recently because frankly things hit me like a ton of bricks about two weeks ago. Not only did the depression hit me, but I’ve been in a lot of pain recently. So it’s not been the most exciting or productive time. BUT. Things are going to change! May is amongst us, and that brings us to Me Made May 2020! So here’s my pledge;
Can you believe April is over already? Frankly, I can’t. It’s been a difficult month for all of us, I believe. And honestly I’m happy to see the back of it and hopefully a slow move back to real life. Because lord, I am struggling right now! But I wanted to show off some wonderful things I’ve been doing, reading and watching to round out the month nicely. And so here are my Monthly Moments for April!
It’s Saturday (honestly, I’m mostly reminding myself these days) and that means it’s time for another one of my posts! And this week I’ve been back at my sewing table making this upcycled vintage skirt!
It’s Wednesday, and I’m here to remind you what day it is and to tell you to brush your teeth. I know you’ve forgotten to do it since the weekend, it’s okay — no judgement here. But I digress!! Today’s Wednesday Wishlist post is a little different than just what I like. We’re talking all about supporting small businesses from now on — and we start with vintage style clothing!
As a furloughed worker, sadly I can’t put my money where my mouth is and support small businesses at this time. But what I CAN do is let you guys know of some amazing brands you can still buy from, or will be able to buy from soon. If you’re able to support any of these brands, please do! They’re all wonderful human beings either making things by hand or working hard on ethical and fair trade vintage style clothing for all to enjoy.
I feel like minutes are meshing into weeks at the moment, and not all of them are good. But instead of dwelling, I’m trying something different this week with six ways to wear a band tee! Six different band shirts, size different ways to style them. Simple!
If you’ve ever been an emo kid, or alternative in any sense, you’ll probably treasure your collection of band tees like I do. Each one is from a show I’ve enjoyed, each one has a lot of history in them. They’ve been cut up, sewn back together and had numerous amounts of beer down them. And that’s what I love about a band tee, so I’m going to show you a few different ways that I style them!
Hey guys! Happy Saturday. Or Sunday. Or Wednesday — frankly time has no meaning to me at the moment. I’ve had a low sort of week, honestly, so I’ve been working hard on the just surviving part of lockdown. And you know the thing I miss the most about being inside? Getting all glammed up with somewhere to go. (I lie, I never have anywhere to go…) But I decided that if I can’t make drama happen whilst I’ve got the time, I never will! So today I’m styling a sheer blouse, which seems to be on-trend at the moment. But you know, make it drama.
Easier said than done, as always, but it’s the trying that counts, right? Today we’re back to daily style and Outfits Of The Week. With a spin of course — I didn’t leave the house! So this week we’re looking at Casual Vintage Looks to wear at home whilst you’re in self isolation.
Do you remember when my blog was just a plus size sewing blog? You don’t? To be fair, neither do I, haha! When working full time, I always find it really hard to get a lot of sewing projects in. So I decided when we went into lockdown that there was going to be one silver lining. I am going to work on my fabric stash and get back to my love of sewing! And so today I’m showing off my newest me-made skirt!
At the moment the world is a weird, angry and lonely place. Everyone is terrified about the next steps, what will happen to their livelihoods, family and financial states. I’ve been at home for three weeks now. And I’m currently out of work and I’m having a difficult time. So I wanted to share with you some tips for self care in self isolation to help alleviate the stress a little. There’s nothing crazy here — just reminders to keep going!
