Can you believe April is over already? Frankly, I can’t. It’s been a difficult month for all of us, I believe. And honestly I’m happy to see the back of it and hopefully a slow move back to real life. Because lord, I am struggling right now! But I wanted to show off some wonderful things I’ve been doing, reading and watching to round out the month nicely. And so here are my Monthly Moments for April!

Nora Finds – Three Things I’ve Learned From Wearing Vintage
One of my online crushes, Nora Finds wrote a wonderful post about what she’s learned from wearing vintage. It’s really introspective, and lists the bad and the good of wearing vintage, including racism associated with some items. I love Nora for her incredible taste in clothing, but her intelligence and honesty in writing makes me adore her and look forward to her blog posts.

The Art Of Ruttu — Stay At Home Series
I’ve been following Ruttu_Ruttu on Instagram for a long while as their art is a wonderful mix of vintage Archie-style meets fetish. When they released their Stay At Home series and subsequent colouring-in pages, I fell in love! Such a cool way to not only share art! And to encourage not only the stay at home initiative but also personal creativity is awesome.

The Witcher
I’m late to the party, I know — but after countless hours of watching The Boyfriend® play Witcher 3, I sort of fell in love with the characters. So I was glad that there was a series to watch of it to bring them to life! Is it the best thing I’ve ever seen? I won’t lie, no. But Henry Cavill as Geralt? Wonderful! Hopefully once the second season comes about it’ll iron out the issues and be the show it deserves to be. In the meantime, I’ll just stare at my favourite grumpypants monster hunter for a while…
Melody’s Monthly Moments – April

Paige Joanna’s Clothing Labels
Getting back into my sewing mojo has been really good for my mental health for the majority of lockdown. And I love seeing that others are doing the same! So it was a perfect time for Paige Joanna to bring out these kitchsy little clothing labels to add to your finished makes! I can’t wait for payday to come so I can get my own!

The Dressed Aesthetic’s Water Lillies Skirt
Talking of sewing, can we all take a moment to gawk over the fabulous Kara from The Dressed Aesthetic’s Water Lily skirt? Inspired by a Vendula London bag, no less! (Watch as my boss tells me off for not creating my own matching clothes for my bags, haha!) Kara has THE BEST novelty skirts, and everything she touches is magic.

Splendette Bangles
I’m a real ‘things’ person, and acquiring a load of new bangles from the bangle experts Splendette was super exciting! I’ve not been buying a thing thanks to furlough pay being less that my monthly expenditure (yay), so being gifted gorgeous bangles honestly made my month!
Their shop is currently closed, but as soon as it’s opened up I’ll get some awesome posts up.

And Last, but never least — Animal Crossing.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Animal Crossing; New Horizons has been everyone’s favourite lockdown pastime. Even Elijah Wood is on the ball with this, visiting someone’s island to take advantage of their turnip prices.
My mum purchased this game for me about a week after it launched, because she believed it would help me keep occupied whilst I’m furloughed. Is she correct? Absolutely. Honestly, without this game I might be in a worse situation than I currently am, since it’s so wholesome and paced just-right to help anxiety. I’ve currently got about 180 hours on the clock on this, and my town is looking fairly adorable. If you play, let’s swap Switch codes and hybrid flowers!
And so commences Melody’s Monthly Moments for April!
What have you been into during April? Any shows or music recommendations? Any projects you’ve been doing? Let me know in the comments!
