A Little Love with Hell Bunny at Yours Clothing

So my last Yours Clothing post was about challenging myself to try a slightly different style. This time we’re back in my comfort zone with some 50’s style with Hell Bunny at Yours Clothing!

After my little dig at Valentine’s Day last week I went all hypocritical and decided to be just a little bit valentines-y with this dress. The Arabella dress from Hell Bunny is just too cute to not go for bells and whistles with it! Or, in my case, heart balloons and pom poms!

So first of all, let’s talk sizing. I’ve reviewed a few pieces from Hell Bunny at Yours Clothing before, and regularly I found that they come up big. I took the Arabella in a 20 with this in mind, based off the size guide’s waist measurement.

And the sizing this time was really good! A little loose in the bust (We’ve gone over my small bust before) for me, but even with the low neckline it’s not baggy. Smaller busts than mine (40D) should go down a size, and more than two cup sizes bigger should go up.

This is one of those dresses that feel like it’s been made just for me, sizing aside. The neckline is my ideal style of sweetheart style that frames my chest in the most ideal way. It’s similar to how the Voodoo Vixen Emmie dress makes me feel. It also the perfect neckline to show off my new Playful Promises Jessie Bra!

As well as the neckline the cap sleeves are just perfect. I get really excited by cap sleeves because I think they’re the perfect length to suit my arms. It seems like a weird thing to think about, but I’m really particular about sleeves, haha!

Although, I’d like to talk for a moment about how much I DON’T hate this picture. I used to despise my arms so much because of how large they are. Almost if they’re some sort of tell-tale sign that I’m a fat person. They’re kinda blotchy because I’m so pale I’m translucent. And I hated it. Now? I don’t even think about showing a side-on view of my arm in all it’s fat glory – because I like the picture too much! It’s nice to see how far I’ve come in my self-love.

Although it’s still winter here, really, the Arabella is a perfect spring-weight cotton. Light and soft without a lining, it’ll see you through spring and summer easily. With the right accessories and some good undergarments, I reckon it can work throughout the year, as well! I personally froze my tits off for this shoot, but I did decide to wear short sleeves on the coldest day of the year.

I also forgot to mention – this dress has POCKETS! Pockets in clothing is necessary for me, and these sit perfectly in the side seams. It’s just a damn good spring dress!

Short Days, Short Skirts with Yours Clothing!

I mentioned on an Instagram post back at the beginning of the year about taking more risks with my style. I’ve lost a lot of my body confidence, and I feel like that could be because I’m in a rut with clothing! So when Yours Clothing asked me to choose an outfit to feature on my blog, I decided to go for something a bit different!

Okay, so it’s not the absolute opposite of what I usually wear, but I decided to try this checked skater skirt, which is a tad shorter than I usually go for! This is actually the shortest skirt I own, because my usual 50s style doesn’t often call for shorter skirts. And it’s oddly nerve-wracking to see my knees, haha!

I’m around 5’7″, and this full-circle skirt sits around three inches above the knee. Perfect for shorter gals who want a knee-length skater, I’d say! I took a UK20 in this skirt, and the sizing is great. The waistband is black elastic, therefore has sooo much stretch! It’s pretty true to size, but smaller waists could also go down a size. The fullness of the skirt means it’s free on the hips, too!

To go with the skirt, I was a little uninspired by the tops and jumpers that Yours Clothing offered. Considering it’s a brand that caters to plus sized women that wear more mainstream fashions, there’s a lot of floaty tops and cold shoulder jumpers. I don’t actually understand the cold shoulder thing – if anyone can explain to me, I’d appreciate it. But for me personally, I can’t get on board with loose-fitting clothes. I like my flared skirts and dresses, but I need to keep things tight up top otherwise I lose all my shape!

So to put together my co-ordination, I went for a basic black 3/4 sleeve top. But you know what? I love it! The jersey is soft and thick, and the neckline and sleeve bands keep it close to you skin so it’s not going to stretch out! I took a UK20 in this top, but I think you can see that I could’ve gone down a size or two. I’d recommend at least one size down for a tight fit, or your usual size for a looser one. Either way, I’ll be wearing it throughout winter with all my skirts!

I’m going to ignore that my belt is off-centre in these photos. Gah.

This outfit was perfect for a little wander around Alexandra Palace, paired with the comfiest boots from Primark and this adorable Russian Dolls Backpack from Vendula London – which is now only £38.75 in the sale!

You know, though, I really like this sort of style. I talked about Melody Casual a while back – and maybe this is the beginning of my REAL casual side? What do you think?

{ Review } Ahoy Sailor with Yours Clothing Hell Bunny Range

If you were a kid during the 80’s and 90’s, I bet you were dressed up as a sailor. Therefore, when picking a dress from the Yours Clothing Hell Bunny Range, really, there was no other option than the Ambeleside – a navy flared dress with nautical striping details on the collar, cuffs and hem, and a sweet little sailor collar!

Clearly I’ve kept this penchant for nautical themes and sailor dresses all the way through my adult life!

Originally, I ordered the 22-24 based on the bust measurements on their size guide, and I will tell you that was a real mistake! Like the last time I reviewed a Hell Bunny dress, I found this came up big – this time at least five inches too big, and could grab fistfuls of fabric either side of my waist.

I swapped it for the 18 – and this is the absolute perfect size for me! So I’d suggest going by the waist measurements on their Hell Bunny size guide instead of the bust.

The dress itself is so lovely, it’s a dark navy, crepe-like polyester, but still very breathable. The colour is just right to make sure it isn’t quite so costumey. Which makes it perfect for all occasions without having to go full sailor-mode. It would look adorable with a sailor hat, though!

Obviously being from Hell Bunny it’s a straight-up retro styled dress, but is slightly more on the 40’s side with the way the bodice is cut – I’ve made a dress with a similar bustline before, and I was delightfully surprised that this dress had been altered correctly to fit modern day busts since usually the gathering sits higher than the Ambelside.

Whilst taking these photos (If you’re ever in Alexandra Palace, you may encounter me and my tripod!) I had a lot of compliments on this dress, and it deserves it! It has slight stretch to give you and a gored flared skirt that will take bigger petticoats than I’m wearing. And it’s just a bit too cute, right? I bet my mum will like this dress!

Literally the only thing I don’t like? It doesn’t have pockets. That’s it, you can’t complain when there’s only one thing wrong, right?

{ Review } Outside The Comfort Zone with Yours Clothing

I would say I’m a pretty self-loving, body positive human being. I believe that loving yourself for who you are now is possibly the most important thing that you can do.yours clothing

But I still hate my belly.

Hate it in the most loving way possible. But there’s no denying my entire style is revolved around hiding my belly. Petticoats and full skirts are ‘the best’ silhouettes for me because it emphasises my waist, but skims over my stomach.

So when Yours Clothing offered a collaboration, I thought it was about time I break down my own barriers and try something a little different, since I spend so much time telling other people to embrace themselves and be comfortable no matter what.

So I chose this dress. It’s not exactly a pencil skirt, but considering the styles I usually wear, it wasn’t in my comfort zone!

And you know what? I feel great.

The dress itself is really lovely, a faux-wrap bodice with short sleeves, and straight-cut skirt. It has slight gathering both back and front to accommodate a little junk in the tum ‘n’ trunk. Which is pretty great for a fuller shape like mine!

I think it could easily be used in vintage inspired looks for my vintage girls out there looking for everyday clothing. However, it’s modern enough for you gals that aren’t so interested in dressing in the style!

One thing I love about Yours Clothing is that it actually caters for larger sizing, focussing on fit and comfort first and foremost. This dress is from their own collection and comes in sizes 16-36, and at just £29 it’s not just accessible for quite a range of sizes, but also just incredibly affordable.

I took the 22 in this, based off the hip measurement on the size guide. The 18 would have definitely fit me, but the 22 was the best size for my comfort. It’s loose up top, but fits my stomach exactly how I liked it!

Also! The shoes I’m wearing are from Yours Clothing as well, and other than being adorable, lightweight and literally THE MOST COMFORTABLE HEELS EVER – these Block Heel Sandals are in two colours and sizes 4E-9E. you read that right, darlings, wide fit sandals you can wear all day and night! For £15, you’d be stupid to not buy them!

So I’m not going to BS you darlings, I’m not suddenly going to be baring the VBO at all times, but a dress like this is perfect for the start of the second part of my own body acceptance journey.

{ Review } Brightening Up Grey Days with Yours Clothing

Yours Clothing kindly offered me a chance to try out something from their Hell Bunny collection, of which they stock items in UK sizes 16-24.
I find the transitional pre-spring time really difficult for dressing. I’m ready to wear pretty sundresses, but the weather has a completely different idea!

Hell Bunny is a brand I’ve never tried before as their style in the past wasn’t to my personal taste. Seeing the selection on the Yours Clothing site was wonderful, however, as they have a nice mix of the rockabilly-goth style as well as my preferred vintage style!

I was instantly drawn to the Red & Black Polkadot 50’s Style Dress for a few reasons;

I’m actually a big fan of polka dots still, and the smaller pin dot print is a little more subtle.

The dress is made from a lightweight stretch cotton, which will easily see me straight into the summer months. With a typical square neckline and wide adjustable straps, I can see this being a greatly-worn sundress for me once the British sun decides to rise!

I went for a size 20 for this dress as it was closest to my actual measurements on the size guide. However! This dress is clearly cut for a bigger bust than my own, so I could have gone down a size. If you’re small busted like myself I would definitely size down, but good news for you big busted ladies!

To complete the grey-day outfit, I picked out the Cropped Cardigan with Cherry Embroidery as a cute cover up – and can I take a moment to gush about just how perfect this cardigan is for a moment? I love good knitwear, and honestly this has a real quality to it. It’s soft but thick, and has a reinforced button band to keep the front in shape.

I took a size 18 as I like my knitwear tight, and the size was perfect for me.
