Happy… Tuesday?

Hope you all had a good weekend? We’re a day late with this post because, well, life happened a bit. But it also included meeting new people AND socialising, so that’s a win for me! So let’s get on with the weekly roundup, right? Pin up style abound!

They call September the “Back To Life” part of the year, and honestly it’s a hard one. I’ve been moments away from a breakdown for a few days at this point, which sucked.

Third gingham in a row! But after a few days of crying and feeling like hell, I dyed my hair and felt like a new woman. Fickle, I know, but that freshly-dyed-hair confidence it something else! Look how goddamn happy I am!

Pin Up Style

Looking good and feeling good! This was the day after I did some modelling for Bow and Crossbones, and I’ve clearly got some of my mojo back. Doing my hair is a lot of effort these days, so it’s nice when re-setting it goes so beautifully. Annoyingly it’s better hair than I had on the shoot — typical.

Someone’s feeling their oats! A typical pin up pose for some typical pin up style. I love this dress so bloody much, it’s possibly my favourite dress I’ve ever had. Actually, I’d say this is one of my most worn outfits since 2014. This baby got me laid so many times in my single days, haha!

Happy Saturday darlings! How are you doing?

I’m doing well at the moment. Depression keeps me in bed most mornings feeling sorry for myself, but I’m slowly breaking that habit. This definitely means autumn is in the air. Although I’m still living vicariously in summer, this Lady Voluptuous Lyra dress is helping me accept autumn!

I’m late to the Lyra game, I know.

But when I was asked to review the Lyra in Rozu Garden print, I leaped for joy! It’s not a print I’d ordinarily go for due to the purple in it. I usually worry that any amount of purple would clash horrifically with my hair. I’m so happy to say that it doesn’t – wouldn’t you agree?

I’d like to be honest up front – I’m wearing my Orchard Corset 426 longline with this dress. I’m going to try and wear it more since my posture has turned to mush. And this dress is the perfect pairing with a corset! It has so much stretch to accommodate the expanding bust, and the waist ties can be wrapped around the back and tied at the front.

However, even without the corset this dress fits so well! The Lyra dress comes with a LOT of stretch, which is why it’s so popular!

Based off the bust and waist measurements on Lady V London’s interactive sizing guide (Which is so amazing), I took the 22/24 in this dress. My hip size put me in the larger sizing, but luckily I took the plunge. The 24/26 would have been far too big!

So be wary of the hips in the size guide! There’s a lot of give, so I’d say the bust and waist is more important.

I’m in love with this bodice. Ever since I got the Yours Clothing dress with a similar wrap style bodice I’ve realised just how good they look on me! The stretch helps it sit nicely on your chest, so it’s a comfy, perfect fit. It could certainly accommodate a bigger bust, though. And the wrap top has enough give for those of you who are breastfeeding – this could be the ultimate pinup mama dress!

And the sleeves! The sleeves are fluted, which is great for larger upper arms like mine. It also adds a little feminine frill to the top.

The colours in this dress are great, too The deep magenta and fresh green really sets the whole thing off. Perfect excuse to wear my new Splendette moon glow bangles, if you ask me. Especially since they’re now only £2 each!

The background isn’t quite black, which makes my black boots stand out quite a bit, but I can’t say that I mind too much.

Basically, I’ve become a real convert to the Lady Voluptuous Lyra!

And considering these dresses are all made in London, this dress is not only great, but great value! £47 for a dress that feels like it’ll stand the test of time is a great price. I don’t have anything bad to say about it!
