Well hello friends and welcome back to the blog! Yes, I made a big deal about coming back and then took another month off… I’d make more of an apology about it, but I think the whole world understands the constant burn out. But I digress, because today I want to talk to you about some amazing SHEIN dresses and plus size date outfits!!
Before I get into this post, I want to make a quick point on something — I will not be facilitating any arguments about SHEIN today. Maybe in the future I’ll finally finish the post I want to make on being fat and the discourse on fast fashion brands. But, what I will say is this; when you’re plus sized, finding clothes is difficult and regularly unaffordable when it does exist. For me, having a brand that caters to my size and creates clothes that allow plus sized people to express themselves is important. Affiliate links are also in use. Plus Size Date Outfits!
Coffee Date — Rib Knit Dress
Whether it’s with your beau or your bestie, Coffee Dates are honestly my favourite! It lends itself to a bit more of a casual outfit, and this dress is perfect for the occasion! I actually ADORE this dress! Perfect knit weight, non-seethrough and keeps its shape perfectly. I wear it so often that I literally bought a second one because I never want to be without this dress.
Also comes in burgundy, light grey and a minty teal colour, for those of you that wear other colours than black these days! I took the 4XL in this and it’s perfectly true to size.
Band Night Date — Star Print Bishop Sleeve Dress
If you’re not being taken to your other half’s mate’s dad’s band on a Tuesday night, you clearly haven’t lived! Band night was a staple back in the before days (remember when Covid wasn’t a thing? Yeah, me either), and sometimes you gotta glam it up a little.
This little number can be dressed up or down (I think it’d look cute even worn over jeans!), comes in six different colours, and wears like a dream. I love the deep curved neckline and the bishop sleeves, and the metallic foil print adds a really great shimmer. The fabric isn’t too static-y and fits nicely in the 4XL on me, if I wanted a tighter/less floaty fit the size down could’ve worked, but I do like the fit of this.
Fancy Date — Dobby Mesh Sleeve Dress
Pinkies out, let’s get fancy! I was actually planning on wearing this exact outfit to the theatre recently — can you imagine using those little opera glasses with this dress? Super fancy. Believe it or not, The Fiancé® actually chose this dress for that exact reason.
To be completely honest with you, I could’ve easily taken a size down in this dress due to its stretch nature (who knew it’d have stretch?), and I think it would have been a lot nicer on. I’m not a massive fan of fake button-downs, and this one is a little disappointing in that it’s just buttons sewn down the front. Some may not care about that at all, and it is a lovely dress, that’s just a personal bugbear of mine!
Again took the 4XL, and would say that you can size down if you’re smaller in the bust and waist.
Spicy Date – Sequin Wrap Cami Dress
Hehe, spicyyyyy. Can you tell I spend way too much time on TikTok these days? But anyway — got a date where you want to absolutely DAZZLE someone? This beaut of a dress will do exactly that!
This dress does exactly what it says on the tin. A spaghetti-strap wrap dress that’s one side velvet and one side sequin. I absolutely love it, and it’s soft and beautiful on. Took the 4XL, and although I don’t mind the sizing, it’s a little tighter on my hips than I’d like. I think I can add some hooks and eyes to keep it in place, though.
No Date At All… — Sheer Belted Dress
Oooooh boy, what a beauty this is! I have a real affinity for over the top sorts of lingerie/nightwear thanks to my pinup days. And this is a lovely sheer dress that looks good over nothing at all, but also anything at all! Perfect for getting in and out of easily… if ya know what I mean ;).
4XL taken again, and sizing is on point!
