Okay. So this year’s Halloween is more trick than treat, frankly. I wanted to have a plan, a costume and pumpkin spice in my blood this year. Sadly, thanks to depression and that whole world-wide-virus-thing, it’s not quite going to happen. However! Not all is lost — Lockdown Halloween ideas are here! Even in tier two and three lockdown, you can have a little spooky Halloween fun!

Costumes
Okay, costumes aren’t going to be fancy this year, let’s be honest. Unless you’re lucky enough to be in an area that allows people in your house. Or maybe you’ll be allowed to go to a bar. Either way, the partying and trick-or-treating of yore isn’t happening in Coronatimes. So we’re replacing those costumes with pyjamas. If you can find Halloween pyjamas, let me know, because I swear the only place making them this year is SHEIN, and we’re not getting those in time.
Personally? I’m living in a Skeleton Kigurumi (onesie) like this one from Amazon. The classic Sheet Ghost is updated to just be a weighted blanket for CoronaAnxiety help, and the Smithy’s wigs are rightfully hidden away to be banished for another year. Regular pyjamas are also welcome, your costume can be ‘second lockdown’, which is scary in its own right. Just add banana bread and a Netflix account.
Failing all of that, Hell Bunny has the most amazing Halloween designs this year, and you can get them on next day delivery too!
Food and Drink
Unlike the over-the-top Halloween spreads we see on Pinterest this time of the year (although I’m obsessed with this parma ham skull), it’s time to make ourselves some spooky treats! Or, you know. Eat an entire bag of fun-size chocolate bars. I’ll be partaking in some of that, and maybe make something ghost-y from the abundance of Pinterest ideas.

Zoom Parties
Okay. ‘Zoom’ is now synonymous with 2020, and without it, Houseparty and FaceTime we’d probably all be more depressed than we already are. If, like me, you’re done with the idea of Zoom quizzes and putting on makeup to keep up appearances, just ignore this one. If you’re down for a Zoom though, grab your friends for a Halloween Pub Quiz! Or have a pumpkin carving competition. Or just existentially talk about the downfall of government since that’s quite scary by itself.
Music
Hate that Thriller plays continuously throughout the night act Halloween parties? Now is your time to ignore it completely! Personally, I’m watching the extended version whilst in the bath — but Spotify is available for all to curate their own playlists, Thriller or no Thriller.
Movie Night
Netflix, Shudder, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime… It’s so easy to access some of the best Halloween films! Personally I’m a big ol’ baby, so I’m watching Hocus Pocus, Rocky Horror and Nightmare Before Christmas. I’d just stay away from Hubie Halloween, I’ve not heard anything good about it. Add popcorn and a blanket and you’re sorted, right? Lockdown Halloween isn’t so bad!

Pampering Time!
Self care is super important, and a pamper session should be on everyone’s self care list. Grab some bath bombs (I still like Lush’s bath bombs, so sue me), a Halloween candle or wax melts from the incredible Rising Sun Creations, and relax! I’d add in a Halloween sheet mask, but apparently no one has catered to my horrific sheet mask obsession this time.
Ignore The Whole Damn Thing And Rewatch Gilmore Girls
Look. It’s the 245th of March for some of us, and that’s cool too. There’s no judgement for just existing as usual and waiting out the end of this. The world is scary enough without added ghouls and ghosts, you relax and watch Gilmore Girls. You’re doing great.
What’s your Lockdown Halloween Ideas for this year?
