Ohhhh holy crap guys, I’m moving!
I mentioned very briefly when talking about my mental health a few posts back that I’m going to be moving. This has suddenly turned to a scream of oh god I’m moving today. And instead of doing anything productive lately, I’ve been browsing the plethora or high street homewares on offer!
Over the last few years, there’s been an increase in high street homeware. As in, straight up womenswear fashion brands launching homeware lines. Brands are slowly becoming full lifestyle one-stop-shops for dressing yourself and your home. And since I adore interior designing and happen to have an IKEA issue (full on banned myself from going there), why not show you what I’m loving in homewares this week?
H&M
H&M is one of the first high street fashion stores that did homewares, and one that most people think of when high street homewares is mentioned. They have a lot of Scandinavian design obviously, which veers more towards the minimalist and trend-led. But they also have some wonderful vintage-inspired pieces, and even the odd novelty item!
Urban Outfitters
I will never be the right size to wear Urban Outfitters — and frankly it’s not my style at all — but MY GOD. I adore their homewares, I really do. They’ve got some on-trend femme sass going on, and I’m living for it, frankly. Every time I look on the website I find something else I love, so much so that it was hard to decide just three!
Zara Home
Zara is a shop that is never on my radar. Honestly, just never comes to mind when I think about clothing. I don’t even know what sort of clothing they do. But I do happen to stalk their homewares to see what’s good! They have a much more minimalist style than I often like — but there’s some gems hidden in there. Look at the novelty sets!
George at ASDA
Okay, so ASDA isn’t quite a high street homeware store, but it still counts, right? I grew up on George clothing because my mum has worked at ASDA for years, and over the last few years the homeware has blown up. Remember the whole pin up craze they had a few years back? I still have some bathroom accessories with Elvgren-style pin ups on. George at ASDA is my #1 for novelty mugs.
Oliver Bonas
I always end up in Oliver Bonas. Have I ever bought from there? No. Do I fit into any of the clothes? No. Do I even love a lot of their high street homeware? Another no. But I saw these incredible Mika Monkey lamps and frankly I’m obsessed.
River Island
River Island again are another brand I just don’t think about when it comes to clothes. Even when I was younger, it was the shop in town I always ignored. But it turns out they have some lovely simple homewares available. I especially love the bedspreads.
