There’s a part of me that wishes it could say I spent lockdown starting a business, perfecting a skill or doing something awesome. In actuality, I just got really good at wearing jersey, haha! Well, that and eating an inordinate amount of baked goods, of course. Which leaves me to my current quandary — none of my clothes fit and everything is bloody uncomfortable.
Which is why I was super excited to try out one of Topsy Curvy’s plus size t-shirt dresses — which come in a variety of different prints! My second-favourite is the If He Dies print because it makes me piss myself with laughter! First favourite is the Bite Me design, which gives me Disney Villain and Alt Girl vibes at the same time.

Topsy Curvy
I wrote about Topsy Curvy previously when I posted five ways to wear their Pinafore Dress. I’ve been keeping an eye on their site and socials ever since, mainly because they do some hilarious TikTok videos. However, I do really enjoy seeing the BTS of the brand and their models, who all have really different styles and body types. Representation matters, after all!

One thing that’s been interesting me is their use of One Size garments. If you’re like me, that phrase literally just means ‘won’t fit your left tit’, right? I was pleasantly surprised to see a plus sized version! Genuinely didn’t think that was a possibility, but hey, Topsy Curvy is out here teaching me some new things!

From what I can tell, these plus size tee dresses seem to be made to fit their size range of UK16-32. Which is kinda cool, honestly. I’m pretty much a solid UK22 (although the Lockdown Tum is maybe a 24/26), and there’s certainly a lot of room in this! As you can see by my general surprise above, the stretch on this is pretty damn good.

Plus Size T-Shirt Dress
Being that it’s a multi-size sort of dress, the waist is quite a bit bigger than I’d usually go for, which loses a lot of the definition I like In clothing. But luckily for me, a belt works on this without the waist being too bulky. My big ol’ hips give it a bit of a balloon-skirt hem, too, and I’m not hating it.

What I do love the most about this dress, though, is the ridiculously huge pockets! That and the comfort, but that’s kinda the nature of a jersey dress, right?
Am I converted to the idea of a plus sized ‘one size’? Yeah, totally! It’s not going to take over my wardrobe, but it’s a great casual piece that works for lounging around and dressing up a bit, and I’m here for it! Now I’d like a long sleeve version, Topsy Curvy, FYI 😜
