Happy Saturday, friends! How are we all doing?
I’ve had a bit of a bad fortnight, thanks to my brain weasels acting up. I’ll actually be doing more posts on mental health soon, so keep an eye out for that! However, I wanted to show you my new dress from Joanie Clothing that I wore out on date night with my other half!
You might have noticed from my last Wednesday Wishlist post and my Pinterest that I’m just so into Joanie Clothing at the moment! This is a brand that’s been around for a few years, and one that I’m really happy to see goes up to a UK22 as standard.
I’ve had a few pieces from Joanie over the years, but have never reviewed them on the blog in particular. It’s a shame I haven’t showcased this brand before, because they have such a great style that works well for anyone. Regardless if you’re into vintage or not, they’ve got something for everyone!
It was really hard to pick one dress from them in particular, because there’s so many styles I love. At the moment they’ve got a bit of a late 60s vibe going on, so I decided to try the Tiggy dress in polkadot!
The Tiggy Dress from Joanie Clothing
First things first, the fit of this is awesome. All of their sizing on the size guide is for the items you’re looking for. So it’s incredibly easy to work out what will actually fit you, versus what size roughly correlates to you. This is something that you don’t see too often, but is so helpful when buying clothes online. Especially as a plus size woman. I instantly knew what styles would and wouldn’t fit me. In the Tiggy I took the 22, and its great!
The thing I like about this dress is that clearly it’s been made for a plus size figure, in that the bust is a bit loose on me. I have a smaller-than-average bust for my size, so that makes complete sense.
My absolute favourite thing about this dress, though? The sleeves! I never thought I’d go for balloon sleeves before. But here I am planning on buying this dress in the green floral as well!
Unlike most of my other dresses, and even my other Joanie Clothing items – this isn’t a full skirt. It’s still a flared skirt, but more bell-shaped than I usually go for. I often avoid that sort of style because I worry about my hips fitting, but I was very pleased to find that this one fit wonderfully.
Another great feature that has been on every dress I’ve had from Joanie? POCKETS. As someone that lives in constant fear of losing their phone and always has it close to them, pockets are kinda necessary.
It’s just such an easy dress to wear! Throw it on and leave – which made it perfect for an impromptu date night of booze and food!
Of course, I had to co-ordinate with a Vendula London bag! Since the polkadots of this dress are actually a dusky pink, it matched perfectly with the Wool Shop Vanity bag!
