Chronic pain is a bitch.
Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend — even if it is miserable weather like in the UK. I’m purposely spending the weekend at home doing not much, since the next few weeks are going to get really heavy, emotionally. So, as me and my sister-in-law say often, it’s gentle times for us right now. And I’m steering away from fashion for a second in this week’s post, as I was recently gifted something that is genuinely saving my life. So lets talk about dealing with chronic pain by using a Donnerberg original massager! (Affiliate link)

Dealing with Chronic Pain
So I’ve mentioned quite a few times on the blog now that I suffer from ME/CFS. The long and the short of that diagnosis is that I’m basically a very sleepy person. I’m also dealing with chronic pain, which is fun. Over the lockdowns I got to rest a lot, which really helped. But as the world opens up and I’m working more, the pain is flaring up much more regularly. I won’t lie, it sucks completely. I’m a workaholic at heart, and am no stranger to working long hours/weeks. Before my ME/CFS diagnosis I was actually working a full time job, a part time job as well as blogging. Adding in a bit of a social life and a relationship, and it was a full plate.

Sadly, no more! I have to take it much easier nowadays, and lucky for me my position at work has changed so that I can work from home. But when that pain flares up, it gets difficult to deal with. I’ve been looking into different ways to treat my pain, from pain relief medications to yoga and exercise. I’ve also been looking into different tech/massage equipment to use to treat the pain areas themselves.
I was really lucky to be offered a Donnerberg Original Massager to test and review, and I’ve been using it for just over a month now. I try not to be overdramatic when I review things on here — but my GOD this thing changes everything for me!

Donnerberg Original Massager
So what is a Donnerberg Original Massager? Well, it’s essentially a shiatsu neck/back massager in a wearable design. You slip your arms/hands in the handles at the front, and can adjust the pressure the massager has on your muscles by holding it looser or tighter against you. Under the red fabric you see below are eight terrifying-looking nodules that rotate, vibrate and radiate infrared heat. These rotate clockwise and anti-clockwise to basically beat up your tense muscles, and is great for targeting areas of pain.
A lot of my particular pain is in my back, neck and calves. It causes spasms in my back, general discomfort and all over body weakness. Again, which is fun (hello, sarcasm). But being able to target individual areas where the pain comes from really helps the overall feeling of discomfort, and more often than not loosens the muscles enough to kill those horrendous tension headaches I get!

This massager has three speed levels, two infrared heat levels, two vibration levels and rotation control. All through the little control panel on the right-hand side! My personal preference is the highest infrared, medium speed and without vibration — but I do love that I can change the settings for each individual area dependant on what it needs at the time. It’s really useful that this can also be used on the legs, arms and even feet, too. No matter what my pain level is, or where it’s focussed, I know that I can safely use this massager on that area of my body. It’s a bloody godsend when you’re dealing with chronic pain, I tell you!

I use mine on a nearly daily basis now. When I feel any sort of pain, my first port of call is to use the Donnerberg Original. It doesn’t take away the pain completely, of course. But it makes everything just a little bit more manageable. The Fiancé® uses it regularly too — it’s great for general aches and pains!
Donnerberg were kind enough to even offer you guys some great deals if you wanted to try this massager out, too!
